Would I Miss You?
If you were to be struck by lightning
I asked myself if I would truly miss you
Now I know the question sounds a bit banal
but I don't wish yours or anyone's demise
And sadly I came to the following realization
that I would not miss you much or if at all
And even more sadness struck me then
For what is lightning but just a symbol
A bright and sudden symbol of one's end
And yet the end can come much sooner
Sooner than we ever wanted or expected
An end with open meaning and interpretation
Of what it could have, should have been
Shouldn't we be wary of one's own interpretation
The subject that at fault is oftentimes
And nouns and verbs their journey often take
In one's direction travel left and right
The right confused with left becomes
And we the pawns of story plotting
The plot is harrowed by the nearsightedness
The blindness of the made-up clown
But is he blind or are we actually
For putting up with practiced gestures
Onstage where pleasure clearly enacted is
