Tomorrow in Tomorrowland

You overpromised and undelivered
Every time, not even 50/50
Which I would have tolerated
And been content with breadcrumbs

The funny thing is that you
would set your own deadlines
and miss them or break them
As I watched you fall down

You started as a fiery rocket
and came crashing down fast
You came up with proposals
whose 1/2 you did not realize

Created problems and drama
and later blamed all mishaps on me
You created false expectations,
said you're always under stress for me!

You went off to Tomorrowland
saying it's more important than me
You went into the land of Tomorrow
while tomorrow never came for us

You complained I never listen to you
when you were deaf to my own needs
and totally blind to all my preferences
while putting your activities first

You took off to Tomorrowland in
search of a new thrill & new self
and hoping you would morph into
a better creature, tomorrow never came

Your slow death approached silently
and blind to this reality you stayed,
for all the fun you had, numbed your soul
temporarily, as alcohol to an alcoholic

I dropped all I had near & dear
at a heartbeat for you and in
the name of us - but you failed
to notice and appreciate me

For granted taking all my gestures
and unconditional, uncalculated love
entrenched and drunken in your self-love
you missed a powerful opportunity,
stuck in tomorrow - today.
