The Old Man on the Street
There is a story about an old man and the sea,
This is a story about an old man on the street
An old, tall man walks back and forth
Each day without a cane and full of vigor
Full of vigor and determination
To climb the hill and make a loop
To make a loop around the neighborhood
And greet a passerby or two
He walks by slowly, self-assuredly
And meets the girl on rollerblades
He turn with smile bright and shiny
On his face and says to her hello
In him she sees the boy excitedly
With sparkle in the eye
The fact that he is 100 so undoubtedly
She does not mind, why, nevermind
For age is nothing but a number
A smile suits the young and old
A sparkle in the eye of diamonds
A stopping gesture, humanness
"Goodbye, hello, or see you soon
Oh look, we are in lockdown..."
And yet he manages to go around
And wish her "Alles Liebe".
