Distant memory

Love in Times of Corona

Distant Memory

You are a distant memory
In my mind
And an even more distant
figure in sight

A landing bird
On the far edge of the lake
A leash of a dog
Left astray

A squeal of a mouse
Deep in the basement
A jogger flashing by
An old lady trotting

A bicycle zipping through
a crowd of humming visitors
The sun that is about to set
Forgotten until the next day

A swan with its neck
Beneath the water
A flashing light
On a winding road

An owl that can’t be heard
Or a bat that vanished
Traceless like chemtrails
Dissipating in cloudiness

Forgive me
The descriptions vague
Believe me
The restrictions beg

For inner soul examination
For more of such reflection
Forever gone my admiration
Forsaking love’s protection
