All or Nothing

Love in Times of Corona

All or nothing

I am a stop sign on the road
— for you, that is
A motel on the highway
— for you, as well
A reststop at the intersection
— for you, who else
Just a constant in the equation
— for you again
A grey rock that will stay
— forever, so you think

A mid-station on the slopes
A taxi waiting for travellers
Breakfast in bed — for you
music in the elevator..

But I will no longer wait
Tired of waiting for you
to keep your promises
or appear on the hour

Tired of putting my
responsibilities on hold
ditching my loved ones aside
so as to clear space for you

And you not to show up at all!
Tired of you forgetting
about me and your words
Tired of you not taking
me, yourself or us seriously
Tired of all the empty promises
which you forgot you made

So I decided to have Nothing
above All, absolutely nothing
For an empty filler versus
solid nothingness, holds
the nothingness a better
promise – for you and me,
for both of us and all!
